We were delighted to welcome members of the Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) to our Hartlepool site on November 17, where we played host to the AMF monthly meeting.

The event was an opportunity for members to discuss manufacturing challenges and the current economic landscape.

Our managing director, Philip Astley gave a presentation on the history of The Expanded Metal Company, the challenges we faced during the pandemic and how these were mitigated, and how we have grown this year.

Philip discussed how The Expanded Metal Company is evolving and also demonstrated our own expanded metal products, from barbeque mesh to aluminium filter foil mesh.

After the presentation we gave guests a tour of our 25,000 sqm site, which showcased our extensive manufacturing capabilities and product range. Guests had the opportunity to view how our expanded metal sheets are made… and they got a closer look at ExMesh™ Engineering security mesh solutions too.

The AMF is a North East England-based membership network connecting manufacturers and engineers, providing support to drive sustainable growth, innovation, best practice and collaboration with its members.

The AMF hosts monthly meetings for its members to connect and discover new business opportunities within the manufacturing and engineering industries.

This month’s AMF monthly meeting was a great success, giving members the opportunity to network and discover more about The Expanded Metal Company.

Philip Astley, Managing Director of The Expanded Metal Company said: “We were delighted to host the event and engage with the manufacturing community – and it was especially pleasing to meet manufacturing leaders face to face at a networking event, following the lifting of many Coronavirus restrictions.

“It was a great opportunity to demonstrate our products and manufacturing processes to delegates from across the North East region.

“We hope that AMF members went away with a better understanding of expanded metal and I am sure they will now be spotting metal mesh everywhere they go!”

Arthur Hodgson, AMF forum manager, said: “We were delighted when The Expanded Metal Company agreed to host our AMF monthly meeting in November.

“The opportunity for us to network in-person again, hear their story and be taken on a site tour is the perfect experience we want to give our members, and it showcased another fantastic North East manufacturing company. Thank you from all at the AMF.”
